NO SOY DE AQUÍ, NI SOY DE ALLÁ- INSTITUTO TELE ARTE

30/09/2023

Collective exhibition of artists from Argentina and Chile to promote cultural exchange. Instituto Tele Arte is a non-profit exhibition space directed and managed by artists from Chile. This exhibition was its first international endeavor, carried out to promote and foster the artistic and cultural work of both countries.

The curatorial focus of this exhibition centers on the experience of being a foreigner and on reflecting upon the sense of non-belonging as a state that, far from being limiting, grants freedom. Through the works of local and international artists, the exhibition explores the tensions and connections that arise when transcending physical and emotional borders.

Artists: Celina Eceiza (ARG), Cervio Martini (ARG), Max Gómez Canle (ARG), Laura Ojeda Bär (ARG), Ulises Mazzucca (ARG), Javier Otero Gaeta (CHI), Pablo Serra (CHI), Rocío and Valentina Guerrero Marin (CHI), and Raisa Bosich (CHI).

I like to walk, but I don't follow the path, as what is certain no longer holds mystery

This exhibition invites reflection on the complexity of human existence and our connection to the surrounding environment. It seeks to delve into the experience of being a stranger, a feeling that transcends borders.

The sensation of not belonging to a specific place drives us to embark on a journey in search of our own path. Despite the geographical and cultural divisions that may separate us on the surface, we all share a common experience. This feeling aligns with the concept of cosmopolitanism, developed by Immanuel Kant, advocating for the unity of humanity beyond national differences, reminding us that we are inhabitants of the same world. The lack of belonging grants us the freedom to pursue our desires.

Both the exhibition and Facundo Cabral's song are perceived as anthems to the outsider, an individual who enjoys and suffers the vicissitudes of life, embracing the constant ebb and flow of experiences. They remind us of the importance of evoking the pleasures, places, and memories of our roots, emphasizing that small things can have profound meaning on this journey.

In this context, the works of the ten artists, both local and international, present themselves as emotions that impact in a disorderly manner. Both rooms of the Instituto Tele Arte become comforting places, making it clear that we no longer belong to a particular place and that, at the end of the day, thanks to this lack of belonging, we are free.

I express my gratitude to the artists who accompany me on this journey: Celina Eceiza, Cervio Martini, Max Gómez Canle, Laura Ojeda Bär, Ulises Mazzucca, Javier Otero Gaeta, Pablo Serra, Rocío y Valentina Guerrero Marin y Raisa Bosich.
