HAY TANTOS LUGARES POSIBLES, COMO LUGARES QUE EXISTEN - COTT GALLERY
Individual exhibition by Dino Valentini at Cott Gallery from December 9, 2021, to February 28, 2022.
This exhibition aims to harmoniously coexist both facets of Dino, where the line between artist and muralist is null (although it always was for me).
It is an attempt to synthesize the exploration of different changes in supports and scales that problematize the possibilities of painting and how the artist adapts to the context offered by each place.
Dino manages to take spaces to appropriate them without intending to perpetuate an image, playing with the finitude of durability and considering flaws and imperfections as part of the work.
Undoubtedly marking a precedent in the perception of muralism. With a simple action, he brought about a great consequence.
Sometimes it seems incredible to think about how much something can change from seeing it vertically to horizontally. And taking risks is a challenge.
Within this ongoing challenge, it is not easy to draw a comparison between what happens inside his studio and his large-scale murals, located in public spaces in both Córdoba and Buenos Aires.
As part of the whole, he manages to make a work a project and the project a work at will and pleasure. This action raises the question for me:
What are the possible scenarios in which painting can seep, appropriate, debate, and even reinterpret the spaces we occupy and even those we abandon when there are as many possible places as there are existing ones?
