¿CUANDO TODO SE ACABE? - OMA GALLERY
Exhibition by artists Augusta Lecaros and Alonso Catalán at OMA Gallery in Santiago, Chile.
When Everything Ends?
This exhibition invites us to view remembering not as an effort to preserve but as a process of gathering, an exploration of what remains without trying to save it from oblivion. Art is presented not as a means to immortalize a moment but as a way to interact with fragments of the past.
Augusta and Alonso, friends for just a few months, discover shared memories of their childhood homes and the idea that what was once familiar fades, not tragically, but naturally. Their works are not about preserving the past but engaging with what remains. Here, each memory is a fragile fragment allowed to exist in a space where everything seems destined to disappear.
Their collaboration stems from the parallels and differences in their childhoods, creating a new discourse in their joint work. The resulting pieces, including sculptures, drawings, photographs, and audiovisual installations, explore a calm acceptance of collapse, where their homes and childhood memories in El Monte and San Antonio are gathered rather than preserved.
Perhaps, when everything ends, we will only have the ruins of our memories.
